Background information about 'Forbidden'

The legacy of Forbidden has always been that of the youngest, hungriest, and most ambitious band to emerge from the Bay Area — a scene that gave us paradigm-shifting giants from Metallica to Machine Head. Now, with a revitalized lineup, guitarist Craig Locicero and bassist Matt Camacho have delivered an hour-plus masterpiece that crackles with thrash fire, emotional depth, and prog-tinged sonic ambition.

From the sheer intensity of opener Single Point Failure to the philosophical sweep of the nine-minute closer Flower of Life, this isn't just Forbidden growing beyond the steel-plated foundations of their 1988 classic Forbidden Evil or the quantum leap of 1990's Twisted Into Form. This is the sound of a band operating with a renewed sense of scope and purpose. Produced by Zach Ohren — the man behind Machine Head's massive sound — the self-titled album feels less like a revival and more like a full-blown rebirth. Tracks like Burning the Lungs of Earth and DCLXVI showcase razor-sharp riffing that reminds you why this band mattered in the first place, while Jisei and The Burden reveal a maturity and willingness to explore darker, more atmospheric territory. The rhythm section is absolutely locked in, the guitar work is ferocious yet articulate, and the vocals carry a conviction that can't be faked. There's a cleansing finality to this record — a statement that Forbidden aren't just back, they're more vital than ever.
