Background information about 'Proxima Centauri'
The primordial shadows lengthen as Back on Black proudly presents the definitive vinyl reissue of Ancient's Proxima Centauri — now unleashed as a stunning double LP pressed on limited-edition red with black splatter vinyl! Originally released in 2001, Proxima Centauri represents the peak of Ancient's aggressive, hyper-melodic, and symphonic era. Following the groundwork laid by The Cainian Chronicle, this album blended blistering Norwegian black metal riffs with gothic atmosphere, theatrical keyboards, and the distinct vocal delivery of Aphazel and Deadly Kristin. Long out of print on vinyl, Back on Black presents the definitive reissue, housed in a premium gatefold jacket featuring restored original artwork. The album's intricate songwriting and dark, epic scope make it a cornerstone of the genre's second wave, offering a visceral listening experience that resonates with the cold, unforgiving landscapes of Norway. From the haunting intro to the crushing finale, every track is a masterclass in atmospheric black metal, showcasing the band's ability to weave complex melodies into a tapestry of darkness and beauty. This reissue is a must-have for collectors and fans alike, capturing the raw energy and emotional depth of one of black metal's most compelling albums.
