Background information about 'Under A Funeral Moon'
Behold the frozen throne of Norwegian black metal supremacy! Darkthrone's third masterwork "Under A Funeral Moon" stands as an uncompromising monument to the genre's most desolate and powerful era. Originally unleashed by Peaceville in 1993, this album captures the band at their most ferocious and unforgiving, delivering eight tracks of pure misanthropic brilliance that have influenced countless legions of extreme metal devotees.
The album showcases Darkthrone's evolution into their signature lo-fi black metal sound, with Nocturno Culto's venomous vocals cutting through layers of primitive yet hypnotic guitar work, while Fenriz's drumming provides the relentless backbone that drives each composition into the abyss. From the haunting opener "Natassja In Eternal Sleep" to the title track's chilling atmosphere, every moment drips with authentic Norwegian black metal atmosphere that modern bands can only dream of capturing.
