Background information about 'Under A Funeral Moon'

Darkthrone's seminal third album "Under a Funeral Moon" stands as a cornerstone of the black metal genre. Released in 1993 and remastered in 2003, this album captures an unrelenting rawness and atmospheric bleakness that has become synonymous with the band's identity. The tracks weave together elements of folklore and darkness, creating an aura of mystical dread. Fenriz's percussive intensity combined with Nocturno Culto's haunting vocals conjure imagery of desolate landscapes and oppressive solitude.

The album is a relentless exploration of themes encompassing death, paganism, and nihilism. Each track presents a narrative steeped in ancient lore blended with modern existential musings. The stripped-down production amplifies the raw power inherent in each riff and lyric, inviting listeners to delve into the shadowy depths that Darkthrone so masterfully crafts. As one immerses oneself into this album’s sonic tapestry, it becomes evident why "Under a Funeral Moon" remains an essential piece within any black metal aficionado’s collection.
