Background information about 'Lux Ex Inferis'
Since their emergence in 2021, Servant have been carving out a ferocious reputation in the melodic black metal underground. Their fourth full-length, "Lux Ex Inferis", is the sound of a band hitting their stride with absolute conviction. Following the critically acclaimed "Death Devil Magick" from 2024 and relentless touring across Europe, Servant return with something that feels both colossal and deeply personal.
What strikes you first about "Lux Ex Inferis" is the sheer scope. This isn't just blastbeats and tremolo riffing — though there's plenty of that, make no mistake. The band weaves epic, almost cinematic structures into their sound, layering haunting melodies over a foundation of raw intensity. It's melodic black metal that breathes, that takes its time to build atmosphere before unleashing hell. The production strikes a perfect balance between the grit of the underground and a clarity that lets every intricate guitar line shine through.
There's a sense of passion here that's impossible to fake. Servant manage to honour the traditions of the genre while pushing their own identity forward — uncompromising, dark, and utterly captivating. Whether you're a long-time follower or a newcomer, this album demands your attention.
