Background information about 'Lux Ex Inferis'
Servant have been carving their own path through the black metal underground since 2021, and with Lux Ex Inferis, their fourth full-length, they're taking a massive leap forward. Following the acclaimed Death Devil Magick (2024), this new record feels like a natural evolution — the intensity is still there, the fury hasn't been tamed, but there's something grander lurking beneath the surface. The band weaves epic, almost cinematic structures into their melodic black metal, creating a sound that's both crushing and hauntingly beautiful.
What strikes you immediately about Lux Ex Inferis is the atmosphere. The production is raw enough to keep the edge, yet allows those melancholic melodies to breathe and soar. Tracks build slowly, layer upon layer, before erupting into furious blastbeats and desperate shrieks. It's black metal that understands the power of dynamics — the quiet before the storm, the moment of reflection before the devastation. Servant manage to balance tradition with progression, nodding to the classics while forging something unmistakably their own. This is passionate, uncompromising, and darkly captivating from start to finish.
