Background information about 'This Side Of The Grave'
Undead brings forth a pestilence of classic death metal brutality with "This Side Of The Grave", an EP that perfectly captures the band's ability to blend old-school death metal traditions with fresh, decomposing intensity. The Dutch quartet, led by founding members A. Von Hell on guitars and V. Repulse handling vocals and additional guitar work, delivers a sonic assault that's both nostalgic and viciously contemporary. Joined by drummer Siebe Hermans and bassist Pit Ov Despair, Undead crafts an epidemic of killing and torture that feels authentically rooted in death metal's golden era while maintaining a hunger for blood, gore, and exceptionally crafted extreme music.
The production quality strikes that perfect balance between clarity and raw aggression, allowing every riff to cut through with surgical precision while maintaining the vile, aggressive forces that define great death metal. Mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö, the EP showcases Undead's commitment to delivering crushing soundscapes without falling into sentimental nostalgia or sounding outdated. The cover art by Branca Studio perfectly complements the musical brutality within, creating a complete package that honors death metal's legacy while pushing forward with uncompromising ferocity.
