Background information about 'Yomi'
In "Yomi", Ershetu delves into the profound depths of Japanese folklore, weaving a sonic tapestry that is both haunting and grandiose. This album navigates the spiritual realm of Shintoism, focusing on 'kami', which are revered divine beings embodying nature's forces. As the album unfolds, listeners are drawn into a world where ritualistic percussion meets orchestral layers, and traditional Japanese instruments like the Koto and Shamisen blend seamlessly with the raw power of black metal. The compositions are intricate, with melodies that linger long after the music fades, inviting introspection and contemplation on life, death, and spiritual transcendence.
The addition of Vindsval from Blut Aus Nord as lead vocalist infuses "Yomi" with an unparalleled depth. His snarling vocals guide listeners through this ethereal journey, adding a layer of darkness that complements Ershetu's thematic exploration. The production is nothing short of cinematic, capturing the dualistic essence of light and shadow inherent in Shinto beliefs. With its dynamic range and emotive power, "Yomi" stands as a testament to Ershetu's artistic evolution and commitment to crafting music that resonates on both an intellectual and emotional level.
