Background information about 'Knochengesänge II'
German atmospheric black metal masters Waldgeflüster return with their haunting new opus "Knochengesänge II", a deeply immersive journey through the darker corners of nature and human emotion. The album showcases the band's signature blend of melancholic melodies, folk-inspired passages, and crushing black metal intensity that has made them one of Germany's most respected acts in the scene. With Winterherz delivering his characteristic passionate vocals alongside intricate guitar work and atmospheric samples, the record feels both intimate and grandiose.
The production work by Markus Stock brings out every nuance of the band's layered compositions, while guest contributions from Austin Lunn and Alboin add extra depth to tracks like "Krähenpsalme" and "Lethe – Der Fluch des Schaffenden". The extensive choir work featuring over 30 contributors creates an almost ritualistic atmosphere that perfectly complements the band's exploration of themes surrounding mortality and transcendence. This is Waldgeflüster at their most ambitious and emotionally resonant.
