Background information about '... Where Spirit Withers In Its Flesh Constraint'
French quartet Hexecutor return with their most ambitious work yet, "...Where Spirit Withers In Its Flesh Constraint", a masterful continuation of their journey into Celtic-Breton mythology and dark folklore. Following the success of their acclaimed 2020 release "Beyond Any Human Conception of Knowledge...", this third full-length showcases the band's remarkable evolution beyond typical blackthrash boundaries. The album opens with the belated title track from their previous record, immediately establishing the connection while pushing into new sonic territories that feel both familiar and refreshingly innovative.
What makes this release truly special is how Hexecutor seamlessly blend their thrash metal foundation with progressive elements, traditional heavy metal passages, and atmospheric black metal touches. The songwriting benefits from contributions by both former and current lead guitarists, creating a rich tapestry of sound that feels freer and more expansive than their previous conceptual work. Despite maintaining their signature dark heavy metal core, there's an almost airy quality to the compositions that allows the Celtic-Breton legends to breathe and come alive through the music, making this a truly unique entry in the modern metal landscape.
