Background information about 'Fall'
Norwegian black metal legends Borknagar return with "Fall", a breathtaking journey through the darker realms of progressive black metal that showcases the band's evolution over their impressive three-decade career. This album finds the group exploring themes of nature, mythology, and existential reflection with their signature blend of atmospheric passages and crushing metal intensity. The opening track "Summits" immediately establishes the album's grandiose scope, while "Nordic Anthem" delivers some of the most memorable melodies the band has crafted in years.
The second half of the album continues to impress with tracks like "Stars Ablaze" and "Unraveling" demonstrating Borknagar's ability to seamlessly weave clean vocals with harsh passages, creating an emotional depth that few bands in the genre can match. The closing track "Northward" serves as a perfect culmination, bringing together all the elements that make this release so compelling. The production is crisp and powerful, allowing every instrument to shine while maintaining the raw energy that has made Borknagar such an enduring force in extreme metal.
