Background information about 'Land of Stone'

This debut demo from Germany's High Warden is a captivating journey into the realms of epic doom and heavy metal that feels both ancient and refreshingly modern. The newly formed two-piece has crafted what they aptly describe as "Slow Heavy Metal" - a sound that draws deep inspiration from revered acts like Magic Circle, Solstice, Orodruin, and Reverend Bizarre. The band even pays homage to their influences with a cover of "Cirith Ungol" by Reverend Bizarre, showcasing their deep respect for the genre's lineage.

"Land of Stone" unfolds like an endless death march on the warrior's path towards bleakness and doom, perfectly capturing the murderous malice of Tolkien's Morgul vale. The four tracks are paved with iron-clad riffs of what the band calls "Ancient Steel," creating an atmosphere that's both crushing and majestic. Originally released digitally in late 2022, this demo has found its perfect home on cassette format, where the analog warmth enhances the band's deliberately slow and heavy approach to metal.
