This is In Flames at their most emotionally charged and sonically adventurous, delivering twelve tracks that showcase why they're considered godfathers of melodic death metal. From the crushing opener "The Mirror's Truth" to the epic eight-minute journey that is "The Chosen Pessimist", this album finds the Swedish legends pushing boundaries while staying true to their melodic roots.The album was recorded and produced by the band together with Daniel Bergstrand and Roberto Laghi, mixed by Toby Wright in LA and mastered by Stephen Marcussen- and you can hear that production quality in every crushing riff and soaring melody. The dual guitar work of Björn Gelotte and Jesper Strömblad creates these incredible harmonic landscapes, while Anders Fridén's vocals range from aggressive growls to surprisingly melodic passages.All releases have been re-mastered specific for vinyl by Justin Shturtz at the legendary Sterling Sound Studio, making this reissue sound absolutely pristine.
