Background information about 'Otra'
With their seventh studio album "Otra", Norwegian avant-garde metal stalwarts IN THE WOODS... present a captivating evolution of their sound. Known for their unique blend of black metal with progressive elements, this album continues to explore new sonic territories. The tracks are imbued with melodic tunes that are both enchanting and complex. The band beautifully balances progressive elements with the raw intensity reminiscent of their early days.
Lyrically, "Otra" draws inspiration from the eponymous river flowing through southern Norway. This thematic choice reflects a deep connection to nature and place, infusing the album with a sense of wanderlust and introspection. As pioneers of avant-garde metal since the early nineties, IN THE WOODS... have crafted an album that not only honors their legacy but also showcases artistic growth and maturity. "Otra" is a testament to IN THE WOODS...'s enduring influence in the metal scene.
