Background information about 'The Dark Sides'
What a treasure trove for the devoted followers of the theatrical metal mastermind! King Diamond's "The Dark Sides" stands as a fascinating glimpse into the darker corners of the Danish horror metal legend's vault. Originally unleashed through Roadrunner Records in 1988, this compilation serves up a delicious platter of rarities, B-sides, and bonus tracks that bridge the gap between the conceptual masterpieces "Fatal Portrait", "Abigail", and "Them".
The collection showcases King Diamond's unparalleled ability to craft atmospheric horror scenarios beyond his full-length narratives. From the haunting "The Lake" to the instrumental brilliance of "Them", every track here pulses with that signature occult energy and theatrical grandeur that made the King a legend. This isn't just filler material – these are genuine gems that demonstrate why King Diamond remains one of metal's most compelling storytellers, complete with his ever-changing masks and spine-tingling falsetto vocals that have influenced generations of metal musicians.
