Background information about '...of Harm And Salvation...'
Maladie delivers a haunting journey through darkness and redemption with "...of Harm And Salvation...", an album that perfectly captures the duality of human suffering and spiritual awakening. The French black metal outfit crafts eight atmospheric compositions that blur the lines between traditional black metal ferocity and progressive metal sophistication. Each track title, presented in Latin, hints at the philosophical depth that runs throughout this conceptual work - from "...desiderium..." (desire) to "...alteramentum..." (transformation), creating a narrative arc that explores the human condition's most profound struggles.
The album showcases Maladie's ability to weave intricate melodies through walls of tremolo-picked guitars and blast beats, while incorporating unexpected progressive elements that elevate the material beyond standard black metal fare. The production strikes an ideal balance between raw intensity and clarity, allowing every nuanced detail to shine through the controlled chaos. Songs like "...profunditas..." demonstrate the band's mastery of dynamics, shifting from whispered passages to explosive crescendos that feel both cathartic and devastating.
For fans of: Blut Aus Nord, Deathspell Omega, Enslaved, and Emperor
