Background information about 'Master'
"Master's" debut album is a seminal release in the Death Metal genre, offering an aggressive and cutthroat experience with thrash metal influences. Conceived by Paul Speckmann in 1985, the album did not see the light of day until 1990 due to recording complications. However, its eventual release marked a pivotal moment for fans and fellow artists alike, who recognized its innovative contributions to the metal world. The album's atmosphere is unique, capturing an essence often strived for but rarely achieved within the genre.
The lyrical content penned by Speckmann is as intense as his harsh vocal delivery, characterized by a cynical and sarcastic edge. Musically, the heavy guitar tones were ahead of their time, setting a standard for future releases. Each track offers no respite from its relentless pace and intensity, earning it a revered spot within any death metal collection. Songs like "Pledge of Allegiance" and "Pay to Die" stand out as quintessential examples of Master’s influence on the evolving soundscape of metal music.
