Background information about 'Satanic Royalty (10th Anniversary)'
Satanic Royalty is the sound of a band that never asked permission and never will. Midnight — the filthy, hooded brainchild of Athenar out of Cleveland — took the greasy, blown-out filth of early Venom, Motörhead and Discharge and dragged it through a gutter of sleaze, punk and pure rock'n'roll swagger. Ten years on, this record still hits like a bottle to the skull: raw, rude, ridiculously catchy, and utterly unapologetic about it.
What makes Satanic Royalty such a joy is how much fun it has being nasty. The riffs are simple and lethal, the drums pound like a hammer on a garage door, and every chorus is built for a beer-soaked crowd screaming along. There's no pretension here, no overthinking — just a band that understands that the best metal is dirty, fast and loud. The anniversary re-issue keeps that spirit intact, pressing the whole glorious mess onto vinyl so you can feel the low end rattle your floorboards the way it was always meant to.
For fans of: Venom, Motörhead, Toxic Holocaust, Bathory, Discharge
