Background information about 'Dr. Feelgood (35th Anniversary)'

There is a moment, somewhere around the opening seconds of "Dr. Feelgood", when the whole thing clicks: the swagger, the sleaze, the chrome-plated riffing, the sense that five guys from Los Angeles had finally figured out exactly how big they could sound. Thirty-five years on, that record still hits like a sledgehammer wrapped in velvet, and this anniversary box lets you hear every greasy detail of it — remastered, remounted, and expanded with a full second helping of live wreckage from the 1989-1990 world tour plus a third slab of early demos that show how these songs sounded before Bob Rock turned them into monsters.

Mötley Crüe were never subtle, and "Dr. Feelgood" was never meant to be. It is the sound of a band at their commercial and creative peak, all hooks and attitude, "Kickstart My Heart" firing on all cylinders, "Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.)" strutting like it owns the room, "Without You" proving they could still write a ballad with actual teeth. The remaster gives the low end a whole new weight — Tommy Lee's drums crack, Nikki Sixx's bass rumbles underneath everything, and Mick Mars' solos cut through like broken glass.

What makes this set genuinely worth the shelf space is the deep dive: the live takes are raw, sweaty and gloriously imperfect, while the demo disc is a fascinating peek behind the curtain, with "Time For Change" and "Get It For Free" stripped down to their bones. It is a portrait of a band on the edge of something enormous, captured just before the explosion. Play it loud, preferably with the neighbours out.
