Background information about 'Kids In A Ghost Town'
There are albums that sound like they've been unearthed from a time capsule buried in 1987 – and Nestor's "Kids In A Ghost Town" is exactly that. This Swedish rock outfit doesn't just nod to the golden era of melodic rock; they live and breathe it with such authenticity that you'd swear this record was pressed between copies of "Hysteria" and "New Jersey" at the local record store back in the day.
From the very first notes of the tongue-in-cheek "A Fanfare For The Reliable Rebel", you know you're in for a ride. The title track "Kids In A Ghost Town" is an absolute monster – a soaring, anthemic rocker with choruses so massive they could fill stadiums. But what truly sets Nestor apart is their knack for storytelling. "Perfect 10 (Eyes Like Demi Moore)" is pure, unapologetic fun, while "We Are Not Ok" and "Stone Cold Eyes" reveal a deeper, more melancholic layer beneath the big hair and bigger hooks. The band channels the spirit of acts like Def Leppard, Journey, and Europe, yet somehow makes it sound fresh and vital. "1989" is a bittersweet time capsule of a track that hits right in the feels, and closer "It Ain't Me" leaves you wanting more. This is rock music played with heart, soul, and an absolute refusal to take itself too seriously.
