Background information about 'Servants Of Darkness'
Emerging from the depths of Gothenburg's black metal scene, Nifelheim's "Servants of Darkness" stands as a testament to the band's ferocious commitment to the genre. Formed in 1990 by Hellbutcher and Tyrant Gustafsson, this album is an unrelenting assault on the senses, melding raw energy with the sinister undercurrents of early black metal influences. Known for its blistering riffs and hellish screams, "Servants of Darkness" is a powerful homage to pioneering acts like Venom and Bathory, while injecting new vigor into their old-school sound.
Released in 2000, this album quickly became a staple in extreme metal collections worldwide. With tracks like "Evil Blasphemies" and "Sadistic Blood Massacre," Nifelheim has crafted an experience that is both nostalgic for early black metal purists and refreshingly brutal for new listeners. The production captures a raw authenticity, elevating the band's signature chaotic style to new heights and securing its place among the top albums of its era as noted by Terrorizer magazine.
