Background information about 'Sagovindars Boning'

"Sagovindars Boning" is the sound of a longship crew swapping their swords for lutes and letting the mead flow. Otyg — the folk metal project of Vintersorg — take a deliberate step away from the riff-driven assault of their debut and lean hard into melody, storytelling and pure, unapologetic joy. Folk first, metal second, as the band themselves put it, and honestly that is the charm here: medieval tones, acoustic instruments, lute and violin textures, and songs that would rather make you hum along than pummel you into submission.

Vintersorg's clean vocals are front and centre this time, warm and expressive, occasionally joined by gentle female harmonies that add a whole new shade to the palette. There is a natural, almost childlike wonder running through the record — nature-bound lyrics, simple but stubbornly memorable hooks, and moments that drift so far toward folk rock you forget there is a metal band behind the curtain. "Trollslottet", "Mossfrun Kölnar" and "Vilievandring" show exactly what Otyg do best: atmosphere, charm, and the odd unexpected turn that keeps everything human and alive. Remastered in 2025 and available on vinyl for the very first time, this edition finally gives the acoustic details and vocals the room they always deserved.
