Background information about 'Transylvanian Nightmare'
Mexican speed thrashers Phantom deliver a crushing four-track assault with "Transylvanian Nightmare", a remastered EP that bridges the gap between their debut "Handed to Execution" and their sophomore effort "Tyrants of Wrath". Formed in Guadalajara in 2021, this quartet has been steadily building their reputation through three demos and a split release before unleashing this tighter, more focused sound that hits like a punch to the face. The standout title track, complete with its B-movie style music video reminiscent of early Candlemass clips, showcases the band's ability to blend classic speed metal fury with modern production values.
The EP represents a pivotal moment for Phantom, as vocalist/guitarist J.C. García explains how this release helped shape their identity as a band in every aspect - from their working methods to their live performance and public perception. Thanks to Patrick W. Engel's expert remastering at Temple of Disharmony, this edition delivers the highest quality version of these tracks, giving them fresh life and renewed attention. The four songs demonstrate Phantom's mastery of old-school thrash dynamics while maintaining a contemporary edge that sets them apart in today's metal landscape.
