Background information about 'Inri'
"Inri" stands as one of the most legendary and influential extreme metal albums ever recorded. Released in 1987 by Brazilian pioneers Sarcofago, this debut unleashed a sonic assault that would forever change the landscape of black and death metal. The album's raw production, blasphemous themes, and uncompromising brutality created a template that countless bands would follow, yet none have matched its primal intensity. From the opening blast of "Satanic Lust" to the closing carnage of "The Last Slaughter", every track drips with unholy venom and revolutionary spirit.
What makes "Inri" truly special isn't just its historical importance, but how it still sounds absolutely devastating today. Sarcofago managed to capture lightning in a bottle - combining the speed of thrash with the darkness of early black metal and the brutality of emerging death metal. The album's influence can be heard in everything from Norwegian black metal to modern war metal, making it an essential piece of extreme metal history that continues to inspire new generations of metalheads.
