Background information about 'Návaz'

There is a moment about forty seconds into "Mokoš" where the cello stops sawing and simply breathes, and you realize Silent Stream Of Godless Elegy have built something that refuses to sit still in any one genre box. "Návaz" is the sound of a Moravian band taking doom metal's slow, heavy architecture and threading it with folk melodies, female vocals that soar and mourn in equal measure, and riffs that land like wet earth. It is heavy, yes, but it is heavy the way a river is heavy — patient, deep, and carrying everything with it.

The record never settles. "Zlatohlav" kicks in with a groove that could fill a festival field, while "Skryj Hlavu Do Dlaní" stretches past seven minutes and earns every second of it, layering violin and guitar until the whole thing feels like a storm rolling over a village. "Slava" and "Sudice" bring brief, sharp bursts of momentum, and "Pramen, Co Ví" closes the journey with a melancholy that lingers long after the last note fades. The production keeps the folk instruments front and center rather than burying them under distortion, which is exactly the right call — this is music that wants you to hear the wood and the strings, not just the volume.

It is the kind of album that rewards patience and repeat listens, the sort of thing you put on when you want metal that actually goes somewhere. For fans of: My Dying Bride, The Gathering, Tiamat, Draconian.
