Background information about 'A Throne Of Ashes'
Sun Of The Dying returns with their most devastating chapter yet – "A Throne Of Ashes" – a crushing testament to the enduring power of authentic doom/death metal. This Spanish quintet has spent years perfecting their craft, and it shows in every haunting note of this third full-length masterpiece. Drawing from the same wellspring of despair that fueled genre titans like My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost, while channeling the atmospheric weight of modern masters like Ahab and Swallow the Sun, the band delivers an album that feels both timeless and urgently contemporary.
Recorded at The Empty Hall Studios and masterfully mixed by Javi Félez at Moontower Studios, "A Throne Of Ashes" showcases a band at the peak of their creative powers. The production captures every nuance of their melancholic assault – from the crushing weight of down-tuned guitars to the ethereal beauty of atmospheric passages that provide moments of haunting respite. Manuel Cantero's artwork perfectly complements the sonic journey, creating a visual representation of the album's themes of loss, transformation, and the beauty found in decay.
