Background information about 'Abreaction'

Abreaction is the sound of a band tearing its own skin off. Svart Crown have never been a comfortable listen, but here the French outfit pushes their blackened death metal into territory that feels genuinely unhinged — ritualistic, suffocating, and weirdly hypnotic all at once. The riffs don't just attack; they coil, they slither, they drag you down into something humid and wrong. Tracks like "Khimba Rites" and "Orgasmic Spiritual Ecstasy" live up to their titles: this is music as a trance state, built on tribal drumming, dissonant tremolo passages and vocals that sound like they're being ripped out of a throat rather than sung.

What makes Abreaction stick is the restraint underneath the chaos. Svart Crown know exactly when to pull back, letting a bass line breathe or a cymbal wash hang in the air before the next collapse. "Transsubstantiation" and "Emphatic Illusion" show a band that has absorbed the lessons of the genre's greats without ever sounding like a tribute act. The production is dense but never muddy, giving every ugly detail room to fester. It's an album that rewards repeat listens — the first pass hits like a wall, the fifth reveals layers of texture you missed.
