Background information about 'Wicked World'

There is a moment about forty seconds into "Race Against Time" where Unbound stop teasing and simply let the riff land, and from there "Wicked World" refuses to let go. This is stoner rock with dirt under its fingernails and a chip on its shoulder, the kind of record that sounds like it was cut live in a room that smelled of spilled beer and hot tubes. The guitars are thick and greasy, the rhythm section swings with a heavy, unhurried swagger, and the vocals sit right in the pocket, snarling one minute and stretching into a wounded melody the next. It is familiar territory, sure, but executed with such conviction that you stop caring about comparisons and just nod along.

What lifts the album above the usual desert-rock revival is the songwriting discipline. "Egoist" kicks like a boot to the shins, all sharp angles and attitude, while "Little Lost" sprawls out past six minutes and earns every second of it, building tension before releasing it in a slow, glorious collapse. "Worlds Collide" is the emotional centerpiece, a brooding, almost doom-tinged epic that shows the band is not afraid of space and silence. Even the shorter cuts, like the punchy "Violated Soul" and the defiant closer "Resurrection", arrive with a purpose, never padding the runtime. Ten tracks, no filler, and a production that keeps the grit intact without turning to mud.
