Unearth have always been the band that kept metalcore honest — no gimmicks, no pandering, just riffs sharpened to a killing edge. "Watchers of Rule" is the sound of a veteran outfit refusing to coast, and it lands like a fist through drywall. From the moment the instrumental "Intro" sets its ominous tone, you know you are in for a ride that never lets up. "The Swarm" detonates with that signature twin-guitar attack, all harmonized leads and chugging low-end, while "Lifetime in Ruins" swings between melodic despair and outright violence. Trevor Phipps sounds genuinely furious throughout, spitting every line like it costs him something.

What makes this record special is the balance. "Guards of Contagion" and "Trail to Fire" prove these guys can still write a chorus that sticks in your skull for days, and the title track "Watchers of Rule" is a masterclass in tension and release — building, building, then tearing the whole thing down. The production is crisp without being sterile, letting every drum fill and bass run breathe. Then come the bonus cuts: "Throes of Remission" and a cover of "Spirit in Black" that reimagines the original with a heavier, more desperate energy. It is a reminder that metalcore, when played with this much conviction, still hits harder than almost anything else out there.
