Background information about 'Nomos Shanderilan'
There is something wonderfully unhurried about Veljanov on this little seven-inch. "Nomos Shanderilan" arrives like a whisper carried through a cathedral corridor, all velvet baritone and slow-burning drama, the kind of voice that has spent decades learning exactly how much it can hold back. The arrangement never shouts; it circles, it breathes, it lets a single melodic line do the heavy lifting while the low end rumbles somewhere beneath the floorboards. It is dark music for people who actually listen, and it rewards that attention.
Flip it over and "Lied für Annabel Lee" shifts the mood without breaking the spell. There is a fragility here, a sense of a song written at a window late at night, and the German phrasing lands with a weight that translation could never quite carry. Two tracks, one small disc, and yet the whole thing feels like a complete little world. For anyone who has followed this voice through the years, this is a reminder of why it matters; for newcomers, it is a perfect, low-risk doorway into a singular artistic universe. Pressed on black vinyl and handnumbered in an edition of 500 copies, it is the sort of small treasure that disappears from shelves faster than anyone expects.
