Black vinyl in standard cover

Background information about 'Mistress of Our Time'

There are moments when a record hits you like a lightning bolt straight out of the early '80s, and Watcher have managed to summon exactly that kind of sorcery on Mistress of Our Time. The Swedish quartet, formed in 2023, already proved with their first two EPs that they weren't just worshiping at the altar of first-wave Swedish heavy metal — they were living and breathing it. But this second full-length? It's a whole different beast, a galloping, sword-wielding charge into the heart of everything that made the genre immortal.

Where their earlier material aimed to transport you back to 1984, Mistress of Our Time actually pulls off genuine time travel with a mystical edge that feels entirely their own. The ingredients are familiar to any devotee of the classics — Heavy Load, Gotham City, Axewitch, Torch, even the Hot Records-era Europe — but Watcher stir the cauldron with such conviction that it never feels like mere nostalgia bait. The twin-guitar harmonies soar, the rhythm section thunders with purpose, and the vocals carry that perfect blend of melodic power and battle-ready grit. What sets this album apart is how effortlessly energy, hooks, and atmosphere march in lockstep. Tracks burst with triumphant swagger, never rushing for speed's sake — Watcher are smart enough to know their steel-clad anthems don't need to win a velocity race. The songwriting is tighter, the mysticism more potent, and the whole affair crackles with an authenticity that can't be faked. This is heavy metal forged in the fires of Crom himself, and it burns with a rare, incandescent flame.
