What we have here is a proper slab of pagan black metal fury. Adorned Brood from Germany have been flying the flag for Teutonic heathen metal since the mid-90s, and Kuningaz sees them at their most battle-ready. This is not some polished, over-produced studio affair — this is raw, atmospheric, and dripping with that unmistakable Northern darkness.
The album kicks off with the haunting instrumental "Einkehr" before the title track "Kuningaz" erupts into a storm of blastbeats, icy tremolo riffs, and guttural roars that could wake the gods themselves. There's a beautiful interplay between the harsh vocals and the occasional clean chanting that gives the whole thing a ceremonial, almost ritualistic feel. Tracks like "Victory or Valhall" and "Just a Fight" are pure adrenaline — think Amon Amarth if they'd grown up on the blackened side of the mountain. The twin tracks "Hugin" and "Munin" (named after Odin's ravens) add a layer of mythological storytelling that makes this more than just a riff-fest. It's an album with depth, atmosphere, and a genuine sense of place — you can almost smell the mead and the frost.
