Background information about 'Les Voyages De L'Âme (10th Anniversary Edition)'

This stunning 10th anniversary edition of Alcest's "Les Voyages De L'Âme" stands as one of the most essential releases in the blackgaze/post-metal canon. Originally released in 2012, this album marked a pivotal moment where Neige and his French collective pushed their signature sound into even more ethereal territories, blending atmospheric black metal with dreamy shoegaze textures that feel both crushing and transcendent. The album's six expansive tracks take listeners on a genuine sonic journey through landscapes both beautiful and haunting, with "Autre Temps" and "Là Où Naissent Les Couleurs Nouvelles" serving as perfect examples of how Alcest can make heavy music feel weightless.

What makes this anniversary edition particularly special is how it captures the complete artistic vision behind the original release. The luxurious hardcover book format with its hotfoil-embossed cover feels like holding a piece of art, while the inclusion of English lyric translations finally allows non-French speakers to fully grasp Neige's poetic imagery. The abundant photographs from the album's era, artwork sketches, and insightful liner notes by Walter Hoeijmakers create a comprehensive document of this masterpiece's creation and impact on the metal underground.
