Background information about 'À La Croisée Des Vents'

Aorlhac delivers something truly extraordinary with "À La Croisée Des Vents" – a haunting journey through the forgotten corridors of Occitan history that feels both ancient and urgently contemporary. This French black metal outfit has crafted an album that transcends typical genre boundaries, weaving together medieval narratives with crushing modern soundscapes that honor their ancestral heritage. The band's deep reverence for their roots shines through every track, as they become respectful witnesses to centuries of southern French, northern Italian, and Spanish cultural legacy.

What makes this release absolutely captivating is how Aorlhac transforms historical events into visceral musical experiences. From the opening title track through the chilling "1693-1694 Famine et anthropophagie", they paint vivid pictures of struggle, survival, and human resilience. The Occitan culture isn't just referenced here – it's lived, breathed, and channeled through blistering riffs and atmospheric passages that transport listeners directly into these historical moments. This isn't just black metal; it's cultural archaeology set to crushing rhythms.
