Background information about 'Blood On Ice'
"Blood On Ice" by Bathory is a compelling narrative-driven album that delves into the realm of Viking mythology and lore. Originally recorded in the late 1980s but released in 1996, this album is often seen as a bold bridge between black metal and the epic storytelling of Viking metal. The atmospheric blend of acoustic and electric elements coupled with Quorthon's distinctively raw vocals create an immersive sonic journey through ancient tales of heroism and vengeance.
This remastered version enhances the grandeur of tracks like "The Ravens" and "Gods of Thunder of Wind and of Rain," bringing out the intricate layers often overshadowed in the original recordings. With its sweeping compositions and thematic richness, "Blood On Ice" stands as a testament to Bathory's pioneering spirit in shaping the genre.
