Background information about 'Those Once Loyal'
What an absolute beast of an album! Bolt Thrower delivered their final masterpiece with "Those Once Loyal", and man, what a way to bow out. This is British death metal at its most crushing and emotionally devastating. The return of original vocalist Karl Willetts brought a renewed ferocity that perfectly complemented the band's signature war-themed brutality. Every track here is a monument to the horrors of warfare, delivered with the kind of surgical precision that only comes from decades of perfecting their craft.
The guitar work is absolutely monstrous – those trademark Bolt Thrower riffs hit like artillery shells, while the rhythm section pounds away with the relentless march of an advancing army. Tracks like "At First Light" and "The Killchain" showcase the band's ability to balance crushing heaviness with genuine songwriting prowess. This isn't just noise for the sake of it; it's carefully constructed devastation that tells stories of loyalty, betrayal, and the ultimate cost of war.
