Background information about 'The Intergalactic Gorebong Of Deathpot'

There is a certain kind of joy that only arrives when a band names a song "420lb Poop" and then backs it up with riffs that could level a small town. Bonginator are exactly that kind of joy. On "The Intergalactic Gorebong Of Deathpot", the Massachusetts crew's first full-length, they barrel through twelve tracks of neon-soaked, weed-choked death metal like a monster truck rally held inside a planetarium. The drums are pure 90s Colombian lunacy, all rolling toms and frantic fills, while the guitars swing between caveman chug and genuinely nasty tremolo violence. It is stupid in the best possible way, and it is also played by people who clearly know their way around a riff.

What keeps this from being a one-joke record is the guest list and the sheer momentum. Devin Swank of Sanguisugabogg shows up to add extra filth to the title track, Mutilation Barbecue and Scab Hag trade blows on "Brined, Smoked, And Deep Fried" and "Blunt Smoke Suffocation", and Texas Ketamine helps close the party on "It Makes Babies". Between the guttural growls and the horror-movie synth washes, Bonginator sound like the missing link between 1986 and right now — old school values, brand new attitude. Frontman Erik Thorstenn founded the band in 2022 with a clear vision, and you can hear every bit of it: two-stepping neon weed death, delivered with a straight face and a grin.
