Background information about 'Dark Parade'
Cirith Ungol returns with a thunderous declaration of their enduring power on "Dark Parade", an album that feels like a triumphant march through the darker corridors of heavy metal mythology. This isn't just a comeback – it's a masterclass in how legendary bands can recapture their essence while pushing their sound into uncharted territories. From the crushing opener "Velocity (S.E.P.)" to the epic title track "Dark Parade", every moment crackles with the same mystical energy that made their early works so captivating.
The production strikes that perfect balance between modern clarity and vintage warmth, allowing Tim Baker's distinctive vocals to soar over Greg Lindstrom's crushing riffs like a battle cry from another dimension. Tracks like "Sailor on The Seas Of Fate" showcase the band's ability to weave literary references into crushing metal anthems, while "Looking Glass" demonstrates their knack for building atmospheric tension before unleashing pure sonic devastation. This is Cirith Ungol at their most focused and ferocious.
