Background information about 'Deth Red Sabaoth'

There are albums that crawl under your skin, and then there are albums that just rip it clean off. Danzig's "Deth Red Sabaoth" is very much the latter. Released in 2010 as the ninth studio offering from Glenn Danzig's eponymous project, this record hit like a ton of blackened bricks when it first dropped — and this reissue proves it hasn't lost a single ounce of its crushing weight.

From the opening growl of "The Revengeful," it's clear that this is Danzig at his most focused and ferocious. The man himself produced the whole damn thing, and it sounds absolutely massive. What makes this album truly special is the rhythm section: Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) behind the kit brings a thunderous, swinging groove that locks in perfectly with longtime guitarist Tommy Victor's razor-sharp riffs. Tracks like "Black Candy" and "On a Wicked Night" showcase that signature blend of bluesy swagger and horror-soaked atmosphere that only Danzig can deliver. "Ju Ju Bone" is an absolute monster of a track — slow, sludgy, and menacing in all the right ways. This album hit higher chart positions than anything Glenn had done since "Danzig 4" back in '94, and listening to it now, it's easy to hear why. It's dark, it's heavy, and it's unapologetically Danzig.
