Background information about 'Defenders of Justice'
Darkness emerged from the German metal underground in the mid-80s with a sound that perfectly captured the raw energy and rebellious spirit of the era. "Defenders of Justice" stands as their definitive statement, a powerful collection of tracks that showcases the band's ability to blend traditional heavy metal with the emerging speed metal movement. The album's title track immediately sets the tone with its driving rhythms and soaring vocals, while songs like "Metal Revolution" and "Fight for Your Life" demonstrate the band's knack for crafting anthemic choruses that stick with you long after the needle lifts.
The production on this reissue maintains the authentic rawness of the original recordings while benefiting from Patrick W. Engel's expert vinyl mastering at Temple of Disharmony. Each track crackles with the kind of energy that defined the German metal scene of the 1980s, from the thunderous bass lines to the twin guitar attack that drives songs like "Speed Demon" forward with relentless precision. This is metal in its purest form - uncompromising, passionate and built for maximum volume.
