Background information about 'The Puppet Master'
"The Puppet Master" stands as a chilling masterpiece in King Diamond's discography. Released in 2003, this concept album unfolds a haunting narrative set in 18th century Budapest, where sinister forces manipulate marionettes through an eerie tale of love and horror. The album's storytelling prowess is matched only by its musical complexity. From the spine-tingling opening track "Midnight" to the dramatic "Blood to Walk," King Diamond's vocal range is spectacularly showcased, weaving operatic highs with guttural lows.
Musically, "The Puppet Master" is a rich tapestry of heavy metal brilliance. The guitar work of Andy La Rocque and Mike Wead adds layers of depth and darkness to each track, complemented by the rhythmic precision of Matt Thompson on drums and Hal Patino's bass lines. Songs like "Emerencia" and "Blue Eyes" are auditory journeys that highlight the seamless blend between theatrical elements and metal aggression. This reissue includes a bonus DVD where King himself narrates the entire story behind the album, offering fans an immersive experience like never before.
