Background information about 'The Second Mechanism'
Diagonal unleashes a mind-bending sonic expedition with "The Second Mechanism", an album that pushes the boundaries of progressive rock into uncharted territories. This British quartet crafts intricate soundscapes that feel both ancient and futuristic, weaving together hypnotic rhythms, crushing riffs, and ethereal atmospheres that transport listeners to otherworldly dimensions. Each track unfolds like a chapter in an epic science fiction novel, with "Voyage/Paralysis" setting the stage for an interstellar journey that never looks back.
The album's centerpiece, "These Yellow Sands", showcases the band's ability to seamlessly blend crushing heaviness with delicate melodic passages, while "Mitocondria" explores cellular-level intensity through progressive arrangements that feel both organic and mechanized. The second half delivers equally powerful moments with "Hulks" providing thunderous momentum and "Capsizing" serving as a dramatic finale that leaves you breathless and craving more.
