DOMINUM don't knock politely on the door of modern metal — they kick it in, wearing a top hat and grinning through the smoke. "Night Is Calling" is the third full-length from Dr. Dead and his Zombies, and it arrives with the confidence of a band that just stormed the German Top 10 and liked the view. Opener "The Circus Is In Town" is exactly the invitation it sounds like: warped carnival keys, a riff that snaps like a bear trap, and a chorus built for ten thousand raised fists. From there the record barely lets up. "Doctor Doctor" and "Dark Melodies" are the kind of shamelessly catchy anthems that lodge in your skull after one spin, while the title track — with Marina La Torraca trading lines with Felix Heldt — stretches the band's theatrical streak into something genuinely cinematic.

What makes this one land harder than its predecessors is the production punch. Felix Heldt handles the boards, Jacob Hansen mixes, and the result is a record that sounds enormous without ever turning mushy: guitars stay sharp, the low end hits like a coffin lid, and the horror-show keyboards never swallow the hooks. The acoustic reworkings tucked near the end prove these songs survive without the fireworks, which is usually the sign of real songwriting underneath the greasepaint. And as a bonus, the second disc captures the whole undead circus live at Wacken 2025 — sweaty, loud, and gloriously unhinged. The Living Dead Squad keeps growing, and honestly, it's hard to argue with the recruitment pitch.
