Background information about 'Night Songs'
Domkraft have always dealt in weight — the kind of monolithic, hypnotic heaviness that feels less like music and more like weather. On "Night Songs", their fifth album, the Stockholm trio pull that weight into a darker, more personal orbit. The title isn't just a mood; it came out of the traumatic medical crisis guitarist Martin Widholm lived through in 2025. So this is an album about darkness versus light, written by people who know exactly how thin that line can get. The night here isn't one thing — it's regret, solitude, insomnia, but also relief, calm, even a little debauchery. And at its core, these songs are about resilience, about outlasting the black.
Recorded at the legendary Studio Gröndahl with David Castillo (Opeth, Candlemass, Katatonia) at the helm and mixed and mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén (Greenleaf, Lowrider, Breach), "Night Songs" keeps that unmistakable Domkraft sonic identity intact — riffs that drone and swell like a tide, basslines that rumble up from the earth, drums that lock everything into a trance. It's a feverish, dreamlike cocktail: equal parts deafening quiet and soothing loud, spiked with insomnia and a dash of red-hot anger. From the opening sprawl of "Unnamed" to the crushing "Eclipse (Outlast the Night)" and the closing drift of "Tunnels", this is the sound of a band staring into the dark and refusing to blink.
