Background information about 'Night Songs'

There are records that simply hit you like a wall of amplifiers, and then there are records that slowly pull you under until you forget which way is up. Domkraft have always lived in that second, far more treacherous territory, and with "Night Songs" they have delivered their most immersive and emotionally charged album to date.

Born from a genuinely harrowing place, the record traces the aftermath of guitarist Martin Widholm's traumatic medical crisis in 2025, yet it refuses to collapse into pure darkness. Instead, the trio of Widholm, bassist/vocalist Martin Wegeland and drummer Anders Dahlgren turn that experience into something far more nuanced, an exploration of the night as a space of both insomnia and relief, solitude and release. The title says it all: these are songs for the hours when the rest of the world sleeps and you are left alone with your own head.

Musically, "Night Songs" is everything you would hope for from the Swedish masters of hypno-heavy psychedelia. Recorded at the legendary Studio Gröndahl with David Castillo behind the desk and mixed by Karl Daniel Lidén, the album retains the band's monolithic, riff-worshipping identity while pushing deeper into shimmering, dreamlike textures. Tracks like "Void Runner" and "Eclipse (Outlast the Night)" build and collapse with the patience of a slow-moving storm, equal parts deafening quiet and soothing loudness, just as the band themselves describe it. There is a red-hot streak of anger running through the grooves too, a raw spice that keeps the whole feverish cocktail from ever drifting into mere ambience.
