Background information about 'History Repeats...'
Man, where do I even start with this absolute monster? Dying Fetus delivers something truly special with "History Repeats..." - a covers EP that's basically a masterclass in how to pay homage to your influences while still sounding distinctly like yourself. These Maryland death metal titans have handpicked some of the most crushing tracks from the underground scene and given them the full Dying Fetus treatment, complete with their signature technical brutality and that unmistakable groove that's made them legends in the extreme metal world.
What makes this release so damn compelling is how the band manages to honor the original spirit of each track while injecting their own DNA into every riff and blast beat. From Dehumanized's "Fade Into Obscurity" to Cannibal Corpse's "Born In A Casket", each cover feels like a natural extension of the Dying Fetus catalog rather than just faithful reproductions. The production is absolutely crushing, giving these classic tracks a modern edge that'll make your speakers weep. Plus, there's an original track "Rohypnol" thrown in for good measure - a brief but punishing reminder of why these guys are at the top of their game.
