Product information "DYMNA LOTVA - Wormwood (Палын) [CD DIGIPAK]"
Digipak CD featuring an 8-page booklet.
The creative spark of composer Jauhien Charkasau and vocalist Katsiaryna "Nokt Aeon" Mankevich was ignited by the news of Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature. The day they learned of this accolade, they composed their first song. Following the release of "Wormwood", political persecution forced them to flee Belarus. The trilogy continued with the third album "The Land under the Black Wings: Blood", expanding musically into doom and traditional tones while remaining rooted in Nordic black metal. The band's name, Dymna Lotva, translates to "Swamp in Smoke", alluding to the tragic events surrounding the burned villages of Polesia along the Pripyat River.

About the album
With their second album, "Wormwood" ("Палын"), Dymna Lotva revisits the Chernobyl theme, first explored in their debut. The duo created their initial track, 'A Solitary Human Voice', drawing inspiration from quotes by Lyudmilla Ignatenko, the widow of a Chernobyl liquidator, whose story also inspired the HBO series "Chernobyl". Musically, "Wormwood" serves as both a continuation and expansion of their 2016 debut "The Land under the Black Wings: Swamp", blending Nordic black metal with Slavic elements. Lyrically distinct from the trilogy initiated with their debut, this album quotes Belarusian classical literature and reflects on historical events and legends of their homeland. The creative spark of composer Jauhien Charkasau and vocalist Katsiaryna "Nokt Aeon" Mankevich was ignited by the news of Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature.
