Background information about 'Vox Occulta'

Einar Solberg (Leprous) returns with "Vox Occulta", his second solo venture and a bold, heavy and symphonic statement recorded in collaboration with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. The Leprous frontman is out to cement himself as one of experimental music's most epic-sounding characters: "I want to be seen as the cinematic person in prog," he declares. "I want to completely own that."

"Stella Mortua", the opening track, reflects that clarity of vision perfectly. Solberg croons over classical strings before electric guitar chords emphatically join the fray and he powers through a majestic chorus. From there, each song has its own character - "Medulla" emphasises its huge, metallic riff while "Grex" is a near-12-minute odyssey. Co-produced with David Castillo (Opeth, Katatonia, Amorphis) and mixed by Adam Noble, the album features Keli Gudjonsson, Chris Baum, Ben Levin, Pierre Danel and John Browne.
