Background information about 'Inferno'
Inferno is the sound of a band refusing to sit still. By 2003 Entombed had already rewritten the Swedish death metal rulebook, and here they pushed their trademark buzzsaw guitars into sharper, meaner, more rock'n'roll territory. The riffs on "Retaliation" and "Incinerator" land like a boot to the chest, while L-G Petrov's roar still carries that unmistakable Stockholm grit. What makes this record so addictive is the swing — these songs groove, they swagger, they breathe.
Now, more than two decades on, Threeman Recordings hands the album a proper remaster, and the difference is thrilling. Magnus Lindberg's work at Redmount Studios pulls the low end forward and lets the guitars bite with fresh venom, so "Descent Into Inferno" and "Night For Day" hit harder than ever. Spread across two slabs of wax, this is death metal with dirt under its fingernails and a grin on its face — loud, ugly in the best way, and impossible to resist.
