Fvneral Fvkk have never been a band for the faint of heart, and "Indecent Idols" — their second full-length sermon — only deepens the unholy ground they've been digging since 2015. Hailing from Hamburg and drawn entirely from the city's extreme metal underground, this congregation wields colossal, cathedral-sized doom metal as a blunt instrument against the crimes of religious institutions, past and present. From the first austere choral voices to the crushing weight of the opening riff, the album wraps you in an atmosphere that swings between sacred grandeur and total moral decay.

What hits hardest here is the balance. Cantor Cinaedicus' clear tenor soars with an almost heavenly purity, even as the lyrical content plumbs the darkest documented abuses, while the rest of the band shifts dynamics with a thrilling tightrope walk between heaven and hell. The riffs are solemn and monumental, the melodies mournful, and the heaviness is genuinely suffocating in the best way. After the blasphemous success of their 2017 debut EP "Lecherous Liturgies" and 2019's "Carnal Confessions", this is a logical, confident step forward — bigger in scope, darker in mood, and sharper in its emotional intensity. Call it monastic, if it weren't for the heresy. The grim march of the whole thing speaks for itself. Amen.
